The Hargate Society

The Rev. John Hargate, a member of the Form of 1860, dedicated nearly 50 years to St. Paul’s School, first as a student and then as a teacher. Upon his death in 1906, he bequeathed his entire estate to St. Paul’s School effectively establishing the School’s endowment.

Today St. Paul’s School continues to benefit from the generosity and foresight of philanthropists whose legacy gifts will continue to provide future generations of SPS students with a transformative education rooted in the highest standards of academic excellence, enhance the fully residential experience, and strengthen our teaching and commitment to service.

Members of the Hargate Society have expressed their commitment to St. Paul’s School through a very special and important form of financial support.

These donors have named St. Paul’s School as a beneficiary of a planned gift. Such gifts might include a bequest, appreciated securities, gifts of retirement accounts, gifts of life insurance, and/or charitable-income gifts, such as charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder unitrusts, or charitable remainder annuity trusts. Planned gifts of any amount qualify, and membership is purely honorary—meaning there is no obligation, nor do we require documentation.

Once you complete your estate plan, please contact us to let us know. Your membership in the Hargate Society allows us to thank you and recognize you for the plans you have made, and it may inspire generosity in others. By joining the Hargate Society, you’ll experience the satisfaction derived from making a lasting impact on SPS students.
